Neil Cummins School Visual Arts Program

The visual arts program at Neil Cummins School consists of instruction by both the classroom teachers and by resident artists from a local non-profit organization called "Youth in Arts."  A 12-week resident artist program is funded in its entirety by the Corte Madera-Larkspur Schools Foundation. Our curriculum is being developed jointly by the Larkspur School District and Youth in Arts in an innovative program called STARS.

We are lucky to have a dedicated, well-equipped art room on campus, as well as a kiln and ceramics storage shed. In addition, classroom teachers have visual arts equipment and materials in their own classrooms.

The Neil Cummins P.T.A. funds art materials purchases with a generous Fine Arts grant to each classroom teacher, as well as a large grant to the art portable to upgrade the facility and equipment. The PTA has also funded this spring a teacher art resources library, which includes instructional videos and dvds, posters, and books that are available for check-out by teachers.
